MathGraph32 is one of those labors of love that only highly-specialized and conscientious developers are capable of.

This open-source utility has been designed and coded by a Math teacher, and it shows all throughout its functionality. It allows other well-prepared mathematicians to create dynamic geometry figures, complete with animations, pseudo-3D figures, and customizable macros.

This is not a tool to learn mathematics, this is a tool to “teach” mathematics. Designed from the point of view of a math teacher, this excellent app will let you produce stunning simulations and analysis figures. You can then show them to your pupils and let them “play” with them to help them understand the complexities of “interactive geometry”. You can download, install, and use the standalone version of the program or create your own graphical explanations online thanks to the webpage-based version provided. The functionality of both versions is the same, which will allow you to open and show MathGraph32 to any audience wherever an Internet connection is available.

The program’s website comes with a wide range of examples, tutorials, guided videos, etc., to help you make the most of the infinite possibilities that the program provides. Unfortunately, the English pages on the site seem to jump from French to English and vice versa in a somehow arbitrary way, which may confuse the English-speaking user at first. Except for this minor flaw, the program website provides you with step-by-step guides to create amazing figures, such as a dragon fractal, a dynamic Pythagora, a towing curve, a Van Koch flake, a Babylon sequence, a 3D figure, the construction of a parabola, or a visualization of the solutions of a function. You can also use MathGraph32 to produce complex recurrent sequences, as well as a graphical representation of a complex number.

Constructions are surely one of the program’s many assets. They are macro-based graphs that you can use to illustrate complex concepts in a dynamic and interactive way. You can create your own or make use of the extensive library of constructions that comes with the program. The latter will ask your for the numerical source objects required to perform the necessary calculations, and the program will do everything else for you, showing the desired object (from a parametrical curve to a graphical representation of the surface of a given equation) and letting you “play around” with it by launching the corresponding macros.

The beauty of MathGraph32 lies, therefore, in more than its splendid level of flexibility. MathGraph32 is an open source tool, created by a true expert, and with a high level of quality, not only in its graphical side but also in the endless possibilities it provides to mathematics teachers, other expert mathematicians, and top-rank students.
